Rane Ramón Arroyo (born November 15, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, died 7
May 2009) is an American poet, playwright, and scholar of Puerto Rican
descent who has written numerous books and received many literary
awards. He is a professor of English and Creative Writing at the
University of Toledo in Ohio. His work deals extensively with issues of
immigration, Latino culture, and homosexuality. Arroyo is openly gay
and frequently writes self-reflexive, autobiographical texts. He is the
partner of the American poet Glenn Sheldon.
